چکیده

This paper describes a solution for the Intserv operations over Diffserv network, based on the use of a Bandwidth Broker for the resource allocation. The Architectural scenario is described, which is based on the current IETF work in this area. For the communication of the admission control request to the Bandwidth Broker, the use of COPS protocol is proposed and the detailed protocol specification have been given. In particular, a new client type for the COPS protocol ids proposed to support dynamic DiffServ admission control. The Policy Decision Point (PDP) acts as a "Bandwidth Broker" for the Policy Enforcement Point (PEP) which is requesting resources. The use of the defined mechanism is suited for (but it is not limited to) the Integrated Services operation over Diffserv networks. The proposed model has been implemented in a test-bed, where both the control plane and the data plane are realized according to the specification.

QoS Control by Means of COPS to Support SIP - Based Applications

The COPS protocol has been designed to enable communication on the interface between the policy decision administrator and the policy enforcement devices in a policy-based networking environment. It can be recognized that on the same interface there is the need to transfer information related to the request of resource by QoS clients and for the allocation of resources by resource allocation se...

A Policy Based QoS Management System for the IntServ/DiffServ Based Internet

Policy based management is being adopted widely for different domains like QoS, security and VPNs in order to allow new services and facilitate network management. Also, the interface to the network device and the information models required for specifying policies are either standardized or being standardized in IETF and DMTF. This paper reports the design, implementation, and performance eval...

An End-to-End QoS Adaptation Architecture for the Integrated IntServ and DiffServ Networks

In this paper, we propose an end-to-end quality of service (QoS) adaptation network architecture to guarantee service qualities for mobile users, according to user requirements and available network resources on the end-toend path which is across the wired backbone DiffServ network and wireless IntServ networks. Further, we adopt the bandwidth broker (BB) for resource allocations and COPS-SLS p...

Managing Multimedia Traffic in IP Integrated over Differentiated Services: SIP dynamic signaling inter-working

The current IETF standardization work has highlighted the feasibility of providing the users with a QoS network architecture in the framework of Integrated Services over Differentiated Services. In such a framework other works have highlighted the need of a coordination between the access signaling protocols and the transport level resource reservation mechanisms. In this work we propose a gene...

A prototype implementation for the IntServ operation over DiffServ networks

Combining Integrated Services ([1], [5]) QoS mechanisms for end-to-end signaling at hosts and Differentiated Services ([2], [10]) QoS mechanisms in the network core is one proposal for overcoming the limitation of either mechanisms when applied alone ([8]). In this paper some of the open issues in [8] are discussed and a concrete proposal is presented, which maps the IntServ Controlled Load Ser...
